If you want your church website design to make a statement on the Internet today you must, must, have a design that is relevant. You can almost guarantee that your message will be automatically looked over if you do not display it in a manner that is congruent with the current trends of today, but you are in luck. Today we will be going over the importance of design and how this can make or break your website, flyer, banner, the list goes on and on. Lets dive into the ever-changing world of design.

The design world changes its mind more than pairs of underwear during a hot summer. I know that was not the most pleasant of examples but you get the picture. If you don’t keep up you may be the stinky kid at recess that no one wants to play with, or in our world, a website that is such an eyesore no one wants to even visit. The world that is “design” is constantly evolving. There is a new trend around every corner. If you pay close attention you will actually see a shift in all media when a new up and coming design catches on. Some industry leaders that set these designs are companies like Google and Apple. Currently we are in a state of very simplistic design. Once again, paying close attention, you will see the majority of site designs leading towards simple and bold.

Now I am not saying you have to change the look of your site every day, week, or even month; however, if you want to keep your site fresh, you may want to consider tweaking it here and there. We understand that, as a ministry appealing to a mass audience is a very tough thing to do. Ministries are one of the few things out there that must appeal to a mass audience. Have you even seen an entire church that only allows 20 year olds in the doors? No, you have families; you have kids and teens, and elderly members that have been apart of the community for decades. So how it is possible to tailor a design to all these people?

Its simple, really that’s the answer. Keep it simple, is the best advice you can have right now. Too many people are trying to do too much. When you try to do too much your site becomes very cluttered and messy. If you want to appeal to the masses you want to keep the design simple. You want the content easily available and easily navigable. Now, you want to make sure you do not take it to the other extreme and have no design. Find an easy, design and stick with it. You want to make sure you stay consistent with your work.

It all comes down to staying on top of your game. The design world is constantly changing but you can defeat that by staying consistent in your upgrades and staying simple in your design. If you feel like you are doing too much, you probably are. Step back and take a look at what you have created. Are you able to find the content easily? Is it easy to read? If not, make it so. After all the design of the site is just to give the important stuff, the content, and dish to serve it on. Keep it simple folks!
